“SQRRR” techniques help you study better.
The SQRRR techniques basically involve reading to understand and later memorize the points of what you have read. It is an effective method to help students digest the chapter better.
The first “S” stands for Survey. When starting with a chapter, have a quick survey of the whole chapter before reading it line by line from the beginning. This way, it will give the ready what to expect in the chapter. Check out the headings and sub-headings. Read the introduction and summary paragraphs.
The “Q” next stands for Question. Ask yourself what are the main points of this chapter.
The first “R” means to “Read” and highlight the main points of this chapter. Many readers highlighted too many points that they missed the main objective of the chapter. Readers must therefore be selective about the points.
The second “R” stands for “Recite”. This is a practice to help you recall the main points of the chapter. Recite after reading a few pages by closing the book and checking it later to see if your recalls are correct. It is like testing your memory skills.
The last “R” is for “Revise”. Revise the chapters and their points regularly. This will help much in your retention skill. Do not wait until when the examination is near before revising.
